Here is a really bad picture of Dr. Breton Watkins [the head of the department], Mrs. Irene Downes [the physics secretary], and myself.
-Sharp lookin' guy.  :)
And here is a bad pic of scientist attempting art.  I had been here for a couple of months, before I realized that these big green "curtains" were supposed to be the aurora.  -The bear flying/swimming at the end of the curtain is a nice touch.
And here is a picture of Denali.  It didn't come out too well.  Picture a mountain SOO big, that if it were in Rochester, NY, you could see it from south of Williamsport, PA!! (It is over 150 miles away in this picture.)
And here is a not so great picture of the view from the front of the physical sciences building.
The sun kind of washed it out, but there are two mountains over 14,000 feet--Hess and Hays--a little to the left of center.
And this is MR. BURNS!! -The unofficial mascot of the physics grad students.
He rules.
Mr. Burns may very well be the smallest dog in the Fairbanks.  Here he is with, quite arguably, the LARGEST--a 175 lb. Newfoundland named "Jesus."
The people who live here warned their neighbors that he was coming, as they feared--quite sincerely--that he might be mistaken for a black bear! :)
And here we have added a 6'1" grad student for scale.
We had a lot of trouble keeping "Jesus" still for these shots; he was more than a little happy to see us.  :)
    Musk-ox dudes!! :)
And astute observer might notice the angle of the sun.  This is what 1:30 in the afternoon looks like in an Al-ass-kan November.  :O

More pics of Al-ass-ka.
