The following are pictures from when my dad came to visit me in Alaska. It was his first trip "up here." In fact, he had never before been any further north than Quebec City. (!!)
The caption to the following picture reads, "5/23 Coldfoot truck stop(?) or general store (?) on Haul Road to Deadhorse". Actually, this is "Skinny Dick's Half-Way Inn." (5/19/02) Although located almost exactly between Nenana and Fairbanks, I will leave "full interpretation" of the name up to you. . . . :)
The caption to the following picture reads, "5/19/02 On side road to Healy mine fire. What lookslike a fly speck is actually a moose." All these years, I have tried--with varying levels of success--to put "computer-generated arrows" on pictures---to mark just where the wildlife beastie is in a photograph. -Leave it to my dad to come up with a fully viable "low-tech solution." :)
The caption for the following picture reads, "5/19/02 Healy mine fire". Maybe--with better eyes than I, Gunga Din--you can just see some smoke rising from the main vent.
The caption for the following picture reads, "5/19/02 Healy". -Nice shot of the colliery.
The caption for the following picture reads, "5/19/02 at lake on Stampede Trail." This is a picture of Laura and me. Denizens of New York--please notice the open, public beer. Sometimes, Al-ass-ka is SOO cool. :)
On to more pictures.
