The temperature got abnormally warm, then reasonably cold. The result was this sort of "impromptu glacier." It ruled, but was a bit of a challenge to walk slightly uphill for two miles on, 'n stuff. :P
This picture doesn't look as good as the real thing. (Do they ever?) In "real life," this looked like some primordial beast, heaving itself out of the ice--and from many different angles. It was pretty cool. :)
This picture didn't really come out (Although, the rays from "big daddy" in the upper right corner are pretty cool. :) ). You can't really see the "spin drift" pouring off of the colliery. -Now how often to you get to see something like that? :)
A closer view of the "odd formation." If you think that the angle is "trick"--well, you're right. -But not by much! :)
After three trips, and some pretty arduous climbs, it was almost blissful to make my way around a blind corner--and find myself _above_ the vent. FINALLY! :) It was almost a "Swiss Family Robinson"-type situation: After an incredibly arduous journey, I found myself in a region where it was _easy_ to climb about, 'n stuff. It was cool.
And here--!!FINALLY!!--is a close-up picture of the main vent. Shortly after this one was taken, I suffered my _very_ _first_ climbing fall. -No concussion, no broken bones, and I could still walk--but I still have the bruises, and that was over two weeks ago. :O
