One Time Trip VII

The Yukon

Here is a sign welcoming Cowboy Jake to the Yukon. I found the flora amazingly, and I do mean amazingly, similar to that of Radisson, Quebec Province. -Which does kind of make sense if one takes a look at a "climate map."

Watson Lake Signpost Forest

Now I had been hearing about the Watson Lake "Signpost Forest" for several years, now. -But I had no idea that it was so HUGE!! Here are three pics of Cowboy Jake @ this most impressive collection. (I have tried to make them all line up in a row; this may not work on some browsers.

And here is a picture of the Continental Divide. They made a really good point here. Since rivers to the left flow into the Yukon, and thus into the Pacific Ocean, they have salmon. This provides a pretty ready food source. (There are still about 50 trillion "salmon bakes" around this place.) -While rivers on the right, pour into the Mackenzie river, and thus into the Arctic Ocean. So they don't have any salmon. This is why there is such a lower population of native people(s) on the eastern side of the Continental Divide. -Cool, no?
