7/19/05 Beautiful view of the Alaska Range---over 100 miles away. . . .

7/21/05 This was just some weird chick.  She was "bee-boppin'" on the corner, then while crossing the street.  I meant to take a picture of her sooner, but my camera wouldn't respond, 'n stuff.  :P

      7/21/05 Um . . . okay.

7/29/05 One of the coolest things about Alaska is that it truly is "the realm of the individual---and other endangered species."  :) This comes out, in (among other things :) ;) ) the names for some of the signs:

Sounds like an annoying place, don't it?  For some reason, I feel that I have mentioned/shown this one before. . . .

7/29/05 Shown is a cylinder at the doggie park.  I had never seen anything like this---at least on a car.  Now, on a motorcycle---well, that's a different story.  :)

This thing had come off of (or should I say "out of" ( :) )) the 200 cubic inch engine of a Ford Fairmont.  Normally, I don't mention anyone's name---in the interest of not getting sued.  ;) However, the owner of both this cylinder and the car it came out of, a gentleman named David Heck, wanted to be identified on my page.

      :)

John's Farwell

8/4/05 This is a picture taken at Dr. John Hughes's farewell dinner.  He is taking a position in FLORIDA---of all places.  I had just recently "repaired" the camera (I had broken it by dropping it---twice.  :( :( ), and the flash didn't work.

      8/4/05 So, I took another:

This time, the flash worked--but hardly anyone was looking in the right direction.  :P Regardless, both I and all the others were very sorry to see John go.  :(

8/5/05 Me---eating "musk ox meatloaf" at "The Pumphouse" [restaurant].  :)

I guess I should mention that this was the first time that I had ever eaten musk ox.  Musk oxen are INCREDIBLE survivors, having survived for over 2 & 1/2 million (!!) years, and three ice ages---all to be food for John.  :) (There was a subspecies unique to Alaska.  It was hunted to extinction in the earlier parts of the previous century.  :( :( :( :( There are new "imports"--from Greenland, or Canada---I dunno'--and they are positively thriving.  :) :)

Hmmmm. -Sharp lookin' guy.  -Better than mortal women deserves, eh? :)

ADDENDUM: I do believe it gave me food poisoning.  :P :P (It had been shipped from Canada, 'n stuff.)

On to more Alaska pics.
