2/7/05 Splash:

2/9/05 And now for something completely different: In the main library on campus (Rasmuson), there is a giant raven---made entirely of tires:

A guy in my church says, I believe, this one the best: "I avoid that thing like the plague." :)

2/18/05 "DTANGL"--I interpret this one as "delirium tremens angel." -Now there's a "true Alaskan plate!" :) :)

(Upon reflection, they probably meant "detangle." I like my interpretation better, 'n stuff.  :) ;) )

2/23/05 This one was just one of those happy accidents---the reason(s) that I always carry my camera in Interior Alaska.  The sun, coming through the windows of the International Arctic Research Center, playing on one of the "security screens" for Mather library. . . .  I think this one came out rather well---don't you? :)

2/24/05 I just thought this was funny.  :) That "door close-y thingie"--the one that keeps the door from closing too quickly--broke at Fart Factory---um, I think they prefer it if ya' call the place "Food Factory." (They're like a clone of "Red Robbins. . . ." Well, I just thought this was funny.  :)

2/25/05 Every year, people go sledding down this hill on campus--the one next to the SRC (Student Recreation Center).  The university has all these signs up sign up--warning of dire consequences of using the hill--severe injury or death, blah, blah, blah. Doubtless, they are trying to protect their liability (They seem to do little else. . . .); however, the university is either unwilling, or unable, to prevent people from using the hill.  It looks like something out of a Norman Rockwell painting:

3/2/05 The Bentley Mall--the northernmost shopping mall in the world---and it shows!!  :) :)

3/3/05 I had originally taken this picuture because of a very strange "sculpture" of ice that had formed on the roof--a strange balance of steam and brutal cold ( :) )---but you can't really see that at all.  The picture looks pretty cool, anyway---so I included it, here.  :)

On to more Alaska pics.
