5/9/05 Ask no questions, hear no lies. I don't have any explanation for this picture . . . however, the incident(s) that led to it are (doubtless) probably quite interesting.
It is a pizza box, upside down on the bike trail, south of the Johansen Expressway. There appear to be signs of a struggle, and a fair amount of a pizza on the ground a few feet away. I said a short prayer for my safety, and kept riding my along on my bike. The next time I came through, all of this was gone. . . .
5/10/05 Beautiful mountains with "alpenglow." I have *GOT* to get a better camera!!!! :) :(
5/11/05 This is again sort of a "ask no questions, hear no lies," sort of situation. This picture was taken when we were helping Martha move out of her dorm. It shows a pair of boots, up on a ledge a story off of the ground. I have no idea. . . . :) :)
5/11/05 After helping her move out, we took Martha to the airport (poor girl). I just couldn't get over this sight:
I mean---WHY would there be an armored car at the airport? No really large amount of money changes hands there. I just couldn't leave this alone. . . .
Then, once inside, it all made sense:
Ahh!! They were there for the ATM machine!!!! (To an American---"deus in machina?" :) ;) ) (You should've seen the expressions on these guys's faces when it became obvious that I was taking a picture of them---doing, like, armored car guard stuff, 'n stuff. It was HILARIOUS. :) :) )
Oh, along similar lines, the last time I went to the airport (I had to pick up some lost luggage---the last four times I have flown Alaska Airlines to Fairbanks, they have lost (at least) some of my luggage. (I'm completely serious.) On the third occasion, I asked the woman behind the counter if I got the kewpie doll. She took that surprisingly well.), I wanted to see what would happen if I wore a shoulder holster---completely visible--[with] no explanation: just a guy in the airport with a shoulder holster. Do you know what happened? -Absolutely nothing. (I guess that situation just wasn't in these robot's programming.) I was so disappointed. Maybe next time, I'll try wearing it through a gate gestapo checkpoint. . . . :) ;)
5/11/05 I don't know, exactly, just what this thing is. It didn't grow here, though---it was brought in from somewhere else, 'n stuff. This was at a party that Laura and I attended. This place is really quite interesting; it has made my 'pages on at least two other occasions. :) :)
5/11/05 I love this next one. :) Also at the same party, this is room furniture, that became patio furniture. (Jeff Foxworthy fans take note. :) ) Please never mind the fact that there is no patio. ;) Also, the "ground" is actually a carpet, that has been left to grow over with moss, etc. :) -Truly a "natural look." :) Also granted is view of some REAL ALASKANS. (They were(/are) really cool. :) ) The young lady just to the right of center is Angela. She made it onto my "signature file" with the quote: "I'm from Michigan---and the ground don't move in Michigan." :) This was shortly after the 7.9 (!!!!) magnitude quake rocked the Interior. I have a link up about that: Check out my quake page.
This is also from the same party. -Check out a GIANT set of nut and bolts---left over from the construction of the Alaskan Pipeline:
On to more Alaska pics.
