More pictures of boats (and the crowd).
A group launching a matress, of some sort:
Another group:
And finally, some pictures of the Possum Van. It was the only motorized craft in the entire regatta. It was designed, built, and operated by the local Public Television Station.
It's funny how things work out---some time later, as I was working a both for the space physics group of the G.I. (Geophysical Institute) at the Tanana State Fair, I got to talking with a woman who worked at the local Public Television Station--in the next booth over. She told me that they designed the Possum Van shown above from projecting a picture of the real Possum Van on a large screen, and insisted that I watch the footage taken by the cameraman shown on the previous page---to see if I could spot ROSIE and myself. -Like I said, it's strange how things sometimes work out. :)
She told me that next year, she would like to get all the departments of the G.I. to compete against each other in the next regatta. You know, it's funny that she should mention that . . .
. . . As my officemate tells me that he also [as well as I] has [have] plans of entering the 2004 Red Green Regatta. I suggested that we "pool our resources" on my idea that perhaps I shouldn't mention, as. . . . Oh, what the heck: A paddle-wheeler floated on beer kegs--and powered by sled dogs.
And as a final not on the 2003 Red Green Regatta: On the way back, someone took a closeup picture of RO-SIE. :) I kept hoping that she was like, a big time photographer dudette---and I would see Rosie's most beautiful face of something say, like, "National Geographic." (I mean---who wouldn't want to put her there?) -[I have had] No luck as yet. :)
