On the way home: Here is a picture from the southern reaches of Atigun Pass.

A cool raised rock formation, with Alaska's ubiquitous fireweed in the foreground.

And here is our final pic--a shot of the Ford Exploder, about 3/4 of the way through our trip.  This was before we managed to break the windshield--twice.

Our trip--what to say? -It was like a dream come true (literally).  We moved smoothly, remarkably quickly, and without mishap of any sort.  Two dreams, both over 15 years old, came true in a 48-hour period.  It addition, we got to beat the livin' DOGSNOT out of a brandy-spankin' new, 2002 Ford Exploder--and we got COMPLETELY away with it (no charges on the card--they even gave me my deposit back!!!!).  That big V-8 sounded pretty good--at 5,700 RPM.  :) Although not the trip for everyone, it will be with me the rest of my days.
