Well---then an question that I hadn't anticipated inevitably arose: What, exactly, does one do with a 8-foot inflatable snowman? Possiblities abounded. :) However, the earnest desire to avoid a police record--and possible incarceration--for at least as long as it takes to (GOD WILLING!!!!!) finish my PhD, seriously "crimped" those options. -Awwww. :) Finally, I--without any warning or explanation whatsoever--placed it across the hall in the Data Analysis Center:
"Doobie" (I honestly don't know what her real name is---everyone calls her "Doobie." :) ) was SOO impressed with this, that she requested me to take a picture of her next to it, and to send her a copy. :) (It took me a while--but I eventually did. :) And then--MUCH later--I was even able to post this link for the rest of the world to enjoy. I *HATE* being a grad student---one is always so busy that one can't find time to do the things one wants (and, at times, needs) to do. (. . .) :P )
Moonrise . . . over "the warming hut."
(This is where cross-country skiers change into their skiing gear, 'n stuff. :) )
And finally, here is a picture of the exhaust system of the truck. It was so cold, that the tailpipe cooled quickly enough for an icicle to form on it. (!) -Now why do I live here? :) (I'm not serious---I would put up with just about ANYTHING--to avoid [American] East Coast heat and humidity. . . . :P :P :P :P )
Early morning temperature inversion---over the power plant:
On to more Alaska pics.
