6/16/05 I thought that this one was funny. They were trying to get this string of balloons up for "The Equinox Run" or "The Midnight Sun Run" or some such, and it was oscillating violently (resonantly?) in a mild breeze. You can just see a member of the UAF (University of Alaska Fairbanks) fire department trying to secure it in the middle. :)
6/20/05 Here she is, ladies and gents--8 GALLONS of dandelion wine. THAT should get me through the winter. ;)
(Ray Bradbury RuLz!! :) :))
6/22/05 This picture was taken at approximately 1:30 in the morning (without a flash). This is as "dark" as it gets, this time of year. . . . :P :P
Oh. Please note the . . . "distinctly Alaskan" nature of this plant-holder. (It's a giant mosquito. :p ;) :p ;) )
6/22/05 Later that day [it was]--somebody movin'. (Actually, it was a woman from New Zealand---she's WAY COOL! :) :) )
It's a RHINO!! :) :) :) :)
6/26/05 I thought the doughboy on the antenna was a nice touch. :)
6/30/05 I thought that this one was really cool. I stopped under a bridge, to wait out a storm. Some weird dude, followed by a bunch of school aged chicks, said some things that were pretty incomprehensible, and left. But that has nothing to do with the following picture. :) If one looks closely, one can just see a railroad stake, driven into the bottom of the (retaining) wall for the bridge---along with the railroad yard in the background. Someone must have stolen the stake from the railroad yard, and then--for no even conceivable reason--pounded it into the base of the wall. Ya' see a LOT of weird things like that in Alaska. . . . :) :)
7/2/05 Not for the first time, I wished I had had a better camera. One can just barely see the solid section of rainbow, going down to the ground, in the distance. In reality, this thing was SO LARGE, and SO BRIGHT--that I couldn't help but see it---in my rearview mirror! (I have GOT to get a better camera. . . . :P)
7/3/05 My doggies are family---I couldn't agree more:
:)
On to more Alaska pics.
