Preparations were very rushed and hectic.  Here is Mary, running about:

At one point, we realized that we didn't have some required bolts.  I had run--and I mean run--up to Sentry Hardware.  (I suppose that this is as good a place to mention this as any.  During the early years of the Regatta, "Red Green" himself would show up for these things.  :) :) They had a competition of building the tallest tower out of pipes and duct tape---and used to race belt sanders down the aisles of the hardware store.  :) :) I don't think I can even imagine--something more "Alaskan" than that.  :) ) Hey---I'm 38, and can still run.  -That's gotta' be good news.  :) :)

Mary had to hold on to the dogs while I went.  They wanted to go with their "Daddy." When I got back, Mary said, "Man--but can she pull." :)

Before the race, I went around looking at the various craft.  When this woman saw me getting ready to take a picture of "The Man's Prayer," she said, "Wait a minute!" and popped in some teeth (shown).

I asked, "Harold?" and she said, "Yep." She seemed rather surprised that I would get it so readily. . . .  :) :)

      Some moose-dude, before the race:

Another shot of the moose-dude (and the back of Rachael's head ;) )

      :)

The captain, getting ready to sit in his chair.  (I had a chair!  :) :) )

(We were so proud---that our craft had adjustable bucket seats.  :) :) )

      Robert, some last minute preparations:

Fitting on one of the wheels:

Robert had designed this really cool setup with cotter pins (complete with a spare for each wheel).  They worked great---even though the axles bowed into a "new configuration," with each rotation of the wheel(s).  :) :)

Mary and Dr. Price, mounting the other wheel:

On to more pics of the race!
